District Correspondent, Sylhet: The Zimbabwe cricket team has arrived in Sylhet to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. On Wednesday afternoon, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine, and their teammates landed at Sylhet International Airport for their first Test on Bangladeshi soil.
The Zimbabwean team appeared highly enthusiastic upon arrival at the airport. Their body language and determination visibly reflected their eagerness to achieve victory.
This time, the visitors have come with a full-strength squad. Sean Williams has returned to the Test team after recovering from an injury, while Craig Ervine has joined the team following a break. Alongside experienced players Ervine and Williams, left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza has also been recalled for the Bangladesh tour.
He replaced young pacer Newman Nyauchi in the squad. In total, Zimbabwe has brought a 15-member squad to play the two Tests in Bangladesh. This marks Zimbabwe’s return to Bangladesh for Test cricket after a long hiatus.
The last time Zimbabwe played a Test match in Bangladesh was in 2020, where they suffered an innings and 106-run defeat. The first Test of the series is set to begin on April 20 in Sylhet, while the second and final Test will take place in Chattogram starting April 28.
