If BNP comes to power, employment opportunities will be created for one crore people in 18 months. 5 percent of GDP allocation in the education sector, opportunity for young entrepreneurs to start companies from home, and effective steps will be taken to establish women’s economic rights—these were the main guest remarks of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at a seminar organized at the International Conference Center in Chittagong.
At the seminar titled “Youth’s Future Thought, Future Bangladesh” jointly organized by Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal, he said, “After Sheikh Hasina fled, the people of this country are expecting a responsible, democratic and elected government. Any investor is interested in investing only under an elected government. Therefore, an acceptable government is essential for the development of every sector of the country. BNP is ready to take that responsibility.”
He said, “To convert the population into manpower, the youth must come forward. Time-appropriate and modern opportunities must be created for them. If BNP comes to power, effective steps will be taken to eliminate unemployment, support young entrepreneurs, and socio-economic empowerment of women.”
Regarding education, he said, “By allocating 5 percent of GDP to the education sector, a supportive environment will be ensured for improving the quality of the education system, developing infrastructure, training teachers, research, and developing talent. In the future, a system will be ensured so that the youth can register companies online from home.”
An open discussion and exchange of views was organized for the youth present at the seminar. The youth expressed their thoughts and suggestions in the question-and-answer session on employment, entrepreneurship development, education, and industrialization.
Social and political analyst Abdul Al Mamun, Senior Director of Standard Bank Shafqat Rabbi, Professor Nahrin Khan of Jahangirnagar University, Political analyst Zahed Ur Rahman, Online activist Syed Abdullah, Filmmaker Mabrur Rashid Bannah, Lecturer Jamal Uddin, Senior Engineering Manager of Oracle Muntasir Munir and Pathao CEO Fahim Ahmed participated in the discussion.
The speakers said that in the last 15 years, the independent thinking and innovative power of the youth has been stifled in the name of creative education. If BNP comes to power, an education system that is technology-based, research-based and conducive to the development of free thinking will be developed.
They also said that modern and up-to-date youth development policies will be formulated to enhance the skills of the youth. The policy will include skill development, entrepreneurship support fund, one-year unemployment allowance program, and a proposal to reconsider the age limit for entering government jobs in line with international standards.
Development plans will be adopted with utmost importance on health, education and employment, so as to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for the youth. The speakers expressed the hope that transforming Bangladesh into a creative and investment-friendly nation by harnessing the youth power will be the main challenge of the future.
