Two Transfer Orders for One Employee: Who’s Backing Bokul’s Misconduct in Railways!

Staff Reporter: Serious allegations have been leveled against Md. Habibullah Bokul, Timekeeper of the Railway’s SSE/Way/Chattogram Office. The charges include intimidating temporary employees with threats of dismissal to deduct salaries, aiding in theft of railway property, and engaging in unethical activities such as drug-related offenses at government housing.

Following these allegations, a report titled “How Many More Crimes Before Action is Taken Against Timekeeper Bokul?” was published in Chattogram News on March 23. The next day, March 24, SSE/Way/Chattogram Office In-Charge Senior Sub-Assistant Engineer (Way) Ritton Chakma signed Bokul’s transfer order, assigning him to Laksam.

However, Bokul’s dominance and misconduct did not subside even after the transfer. Despite being transferred on March 24, he did not join his designated workplace in Laksam. Instead, he remained on extended leave, drawing a salary without performing any duties. As discussions about the incident grew within the railway community, Ritton Chakma issued another transfer order for Bokul 22 days later. Meanwhile, allegations surfaced that Bokul continued to withdraw his salary despite being absent from work.

Railway insiders claim that issuing two transfer orders for the same person from the same office is unprecedented. Questions have arisen about what motivated Ritton Chakma to grant Bokul two separate transfer orders.

Sources within the railways allege that Ritton Chakma has long provided unethical support to Bokul, enabling him to carry out his activities without accountability. Despite numerous allegations, Bokul remains in his position without facing consequences.

A staff member from the SSE/Way/Chattogram Office, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Chattogram News, “Timekeeper Md. Habibullah Bokul is highly controversial within the railway community. After his transfer, he did not join Laksam. He has been seen at the SSE/Way/Chattogram Office a few times, but he has been withdrawing his salary without reporting to his new posting, which violates railway regulations.”

When contacted about the matter, Timekeeper Md. Habibullah Bokul stated that although a transfer order was issued, he did not accept it. He claimed to have stayed in the Chattogram office upon request to Ritton Chakma. “Many are spreading false information about me. I stayed because Sir allowed me to. I am now working in Laksam. For further clarification, you can contact Sir.”

Efforts to contact Ritton Chakma, the SSE/Way/Chattogram Office In-Charge, both in person and via phone, were unsuccessful.

Additionally, attempts to gain a clear explanation from Abu Jafar Mia, Chief Engineer of the Railway’s Eastern Region, were also futile as he disconnected the phone, citing his busy schedule.
