The 81st birthday of Begum Khaleda Zia, the pioneer of democracy, mother of the country and uncompromising national leader, is today, August 15

Own representative: Doa and Milad Mahfil on behalf of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP On the occasion of the 81st birthday of Begum Khaleda Zia, the mother of democracy, three-time Prime Minister, uncompromising leader of the defense of Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty and democratic rights, and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), a doa and milad mahfil was organized by the Chittagong Metropolitan BNP and its affiliated organizations to pray for her health, longevity and all-round well-being.

Today, Friday (August 15, 2025) after Juma, a special prayer was offered at the Jama Masjid adjacent to the party office in the city. The leaders present at the mahfil highlighted the history of political leadership, sacrifice and struggle of Deshmata Khaleda Zia for more than four decades.

Chittagong Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman, BNP Central Labor Affairs Secretary MA Nazim Uddin, former Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, Central Executive Committee Member Alhaj Shamsul Alam, Joint Convener MA Aziz, Advocate Abdus Sattar, SM Saiful Alam, Kazi Belal Uddin, Harun Zaman, RU Chowdhury Shaheen, Shawkat Azam Khawaja, Ahmedul Alam Russell, Shihab Uddin Mobin and other senior leaders of Metropolitan BNP were present at the prayer mahfil.

In addition, metropolitan BNP members Joynal Abedin Zia, Abul Hashem, Iskander Mirza, Mujibul Haque, Mohammad Khorshed Alam, Kamrul Islam, Anwar Hossain Lipu, Mashiur Alam Swapan, Mosharraf Hossain Dipti, Md. Zafar Ahmed, Shihab Uddin Alam, AK Khan, Nuruddin Hossain Nuru, Abu Musa, Hanif Sawdagar, Mohammad Azam, Mohammad Ashraful Islam, former Jubo Dal president Mosharraf Hossain Dipti, Swechchhasebak Dal president Belayet Hossain Bulu, general secretary Zamir Uddin Nahid, JASAS city president Musa Bablu, and leaders and activists of BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, JASAS and other allied organizations participated.

The speakers said that Deshmata Begum Khaleda Zia is not just a political leader, she is a unique symbol of the democratic movement of Bangladesh. The unwavering role she played in establishing the people’s right to vote, human rights and the rule of law in the post-independence period will be written in golden letters in national history. During her three terms as Prime Minister, she made outstanding contributions to the country’s economy, education, infrastructure development, women’s empowerment, poverty alleviation and increasing Bangladesh’s status in the international arena.

They mentioned that the national leader had to suffer imprisonment, injustice and physical torture for a long time while fighting against the illegally in power dictatorship. Her indomitable spirit and steadfast stand on democratic ideals despite illness and adverse conditions are a constant inspiration for millions of workers and supporters. The leaders present expressed strong optimism that the rule of the people and the right to vote will be established again in the country under her leadership.

At the end of the mahfil, prayers were sought from the countrymen for the health, longevity and success of the democratic movement of Deshmata Begum Khaleda Zia and a pledge was made to remain united for the purpose of re-establishing democracy.
