District Correspondent, Sylhet: The government has suspended Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of the Sylhet Divisional Passport and Visa Office, on charges including converting a diplomatic passport to an ordinary passport overnight.
This information was disclosed in a notification signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.
A senior official of the Ministry of Home Affairs, holding the rank of Joint Secretary, stated that Abdullah Al Mamun faced various allegations of corruption, including the conversion of a diplomatic passport to an ordinary passport overnight. Consequently, he has been suspended. He was serving at the Sylhet Divisional Passport Office.
The notification stated that Abdullah Al Mamun, Director of the Sylhet Divisional Passport and Visa Office, has been charged in court by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Under the provisions of Subsection 2 of Section 39 of the Government Service Act, 2018, he has been suspended.
