District Correspondent, Sylhet: Syed Salim Mohammad Abdul Qadir has been appointed as the new Registrar of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). He had been serving as the Acting Registrar since September 5, 2024.
This information was shared via a press release issued by the university on Sunday.
Earlier, on Saturday, the 236th Syndicate Meeting of the university recommended his permanent appointment to the position of Registrar.
During the event held on Sunday to mark the occasion of his assuming office, SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury addressed the officials, saying, “You are responsible members of the campus; work spontaneously. Arrive at the office on time. Together, we will work for the welfare of the students.”
While taking charge, Registrar Syed Salim Mohammad Abdul Qadir said, “Countless thanks to Almighty Allah. I am deeply grateful to the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Treasurer. I have received support from not only the Registrar’s Office but also from other departments and offices of the university. In the future, I wish to continue working collaboratively with all stakeholders of the university. I seek everyone’s cooperation for this.”
At the event, Deputy Registrars and other officials from various levels of the Registrar’s Office welcomed him with floral greetings.
Syed Salim Mohammad Abdul Qadir joined SUST on October 29, 1994, during the tenure of then-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Mohib Uddin Ahmed. He holds both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Public Administration from the University of Chittagong (CU).
