A senior officer of RAB-7, Squad Commander Senior Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP) Polash Saha, has reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his personal pistol in his office at the RAB-7 Chandgaon Camp in Chattogram.
The incident took place today, Wednesday, at around 11:50 AM. According to RAB-7 sources, at around 11:30 AM, Senior ASP Polash Saha had collected a pistol from the camp’s armory to participate in an operation. Afterward, he returned to his office. A few minutes later, around 11:45 AM, he shot himself in the head. Hearing the sound of the gunshot, RAB-7 Company Commander Major Touhid and other officials rushed to the scene.
He was later rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
A suicide note was found in his office, in which Polash Saha wrote, “No one is responsible for my death, neither my mother nor my wife. I am the one to blame. I couldn’t make anyone happy. My wife should take all the gold and live well. My mother’s responsibility lies with my two brothers; they should take care of her. Everything except the gold is for my mother. My sister should coordinate everything.”
RAB-7’s Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Hafizur Rahman said, “Senior ASP Polash Saha was a very responsible and professional officer. His death is extremely tragic and heartbreaking. We are investigating the reason behind his suicide, and the matter will be looked into thoroughly.”
