District Correspondent, Sylhet: RAB-9 has arrested five individuals and seized 7,839 pieces of Yaba tablets and 207 bottles of Phensedyl during separate operations in different areas of Sylhet.
The matter was disclosed in a press release by RAB-9 on Saturday. Based on secret information, separate operational teams of RAB-9, CPSCs in Sylhet, and the Headquarters Company conducted these raids.
RAB reported that 4,839 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered, and one individual, Md. Minu Mia (60), was arrested from the Charkhai Bazar area under Beanibazar Police Station. He is a resident of Sabriya village in the Zakiganj upazila.
In another operation, Abdul Ahad (25), a youth from the Tikor Nayakhel area under Gowainghat Police Station, was arrested with 3,100 pieces of Yaba tablets. He is a resident of the same area.
Additionally, three individuals were arrested with 207 bottles of Phensedyl from the Dhupagul Bazar area of Khadimnagar Union under Airport Police Station. They are Raihan Mia (34), Harun Or Rashid (44), and Arif Mia (35), all residents of different areas of Narsingdi district.
RAB-9 Media Officer Additional Superintendent of Police KM Shahidul Islam Sohag informed the media that cases have been filed against the detainees under relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018, and the seized evidence has been handed over to the respective police stations. He further stated that such operations will continue as part of RAB’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
