Ahmed majid ittija: Today, Thursday (April 17, 2025), a meeting was held between technical students and the Education Advisor to discuss various issues and demands raised by the students. The agenda of the meeting included improving the quality of technical education, eliminating discrimination in job opportunities, and addressing other challenges faced by the students.
The Education Advisor assured the students, saying, “The government is ready to address all legitimate demands of the students. We will take immediate steps to resolve these issues.” However, mixed reactions were observed among the students after the meeting.
Earlier, on April 16, 2025, an incident occurred where the army conducted operations in several polytechnic institutions in the Comilla division. Students alleged that the operation was suppressive and a threat to the security and independence of their educational institutions.
In protest of this incident, the students of Bangladesh Sweden Polytechnic Institute organized a torch and candle rally today at 7:30 PM.
Carrying torches and candles, the students started their rally from the institute campus, marching through the main streets. During the rally, students chanted slogans condemning the suppressive actions and demanded a safe and secure environment in their institutions.
At the end of the rally, the students stated, “Our demands are clear—we do not want any military interference in our educational institutions. We want to study with our rightful freedom. We will continue our peaceful protests until our demands are met.”
This program has created significant resonance among technical students, with messages of solidarity pouring in from other polytechnic institutes across the country.
