Journalist Shahjahan Komor Is No Longer With Us

Barlekha-Juri (Moulvibazar) Correspondent Mohammad Shahjahan Komor (55), the Rural Editor of the daily Amader Shomoy newspaper and the sixth son of the late Siddiq Ali of Gramtala village in Barlekha Upazila, Moulvibazar district, has passed away.

He breathed his last at 4:00 AM on Thursday while undergoing treatment at Mugda Hospital in the capital (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un). At the time of his death, he was 55 years old. He leaves behind his wife, brothers, sisters, relatives, and numerous admirers.

Shahjahan Komor began his illustrious career as the Sylhet Correspondent of the weekly Jayantabarta newspaper, published in Sylhet. He later served in various roles, including as a journalist at Dainik Sylheter Dak, Editor of Dainik Ajker Sylhet Barta, and as a correspondent for the national daily Bangla Bazar. Until the end of his life, he worked as the Rural Editor of the Amader Shomoy newspaper. He was the sixth among seven brothers and three sisters.

His first funeral prayer will be held at 5:00 PM at Gramtala Central Jame Mosque in Barlekha Upazila, followed by a second funeral prayer at Jaldhup Sonatula Jame Mosque premises. He will then be laid to rest in the family graveyard.

The death of Shahjahan Komor has cast a shadow of grief over journalists in Barlekha. In a condolence message, Barlekha Press Club President Anwarul Islam and General Secretary Abdur Rob expressed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
