Special Correspondent: Miftah Siddiqui, Joint Organizing Secretary of the National Executive Committee of the BNP, said that if the country is to build a happy, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh, there is no alternative to implementing the 31-point program announced by Tarique Rahman. If the BNP comes to power in the upcoming national elections, a self-reliant Bangladesh will be built on the basis of equality through the implementation of this program.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a rally organized by the Union BNP in Chatibahar area on Saturday afternoon after distributing leaflets of the 31-point program in different areas of Telikhal Union of Companiganj Upazila of Sylhet.
Miftah Siddiqui said, “At a special time of the nation’s crisis, martyred President Ziaur Rahman formulated a 19-point program. But later, due to some misguided army members, it could not be implemented. The past fascist regime destroyed the entire state structure. Now it is our responsibility to repair it and take the country forward on the path of prosperity.”
He also said, “Companiganj Upazila, which is rich in natural mineral resources and tourism industry, can be transformed into a tourism hub through proper planning. This will create huge employment opportunities and eliminate unemployment. Unfinished development activities will also be completed through the victory of the paddy sheaf symbol, InshaAllah.”
The rally, chaired by Telikhal Union BNP President Arj Ahmed Ano Mia and jointly moderated by General Secretaries Mansur Alam and Shihab Uddin Member, was addressed by Companiganj Upazila BNP General Secretary Ali Akbar. Nurul Muttakin Badsha, Nurul Amin, Abul Kalam and Usman Ali spoke as special guests.
Also present at the rally were senior joint convener of Sylhet District Volunteer Party Miftahul Kabir Miftah, Usman Kha, Omar Faruk, Hossain Arif, Jewel Ahmed, Sajjad Hossain Dudu, Mustakim Ahmed Farhad, Emadur Rahman Injad, Abdullah Al Mamun, Nazim Ahmed, Abdul Alim, Atiqur Rahman Ramzan and others.
