Government Land Worth Hundreds of Crores Illegally Occupied in Cox’s Bazar: ACC Conducts Raid

Mohammad Khorshed Helali, Cox’s Bazar:

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid on the controversial government land at the Kolatoli Sugandha Point, a prime tourist area in Cox’s Bazar. On Monday afternoon, the ACC team inspected the illegally constructed structures and reviewed the situation on this government land, valued at approximately 200 crore BDT.

The raid was led by Anik Barua Babu, Assistant Director of the ACC’s Integrated District Office in Cox’s Bazar, accompanied by a team from the local police station.

The ACC team spent about an hour on-site, speaking with the accused and verifying documents. Anik Barua Babu stated, “After examining the documents, it is clear that the land belongs to the government. Fraudulent deeds and records were created to occupy the land illegally. Legal action will be taken against all those involved in this illegal occupation.” He further added, “If any government officials or employees are found to be involved in this occupation, they will also face legal consequences according to the law.”

During the ACC’s much-anticipated raid on the illegal occupation of this land, a person named Shimul, one of the alleged land grabbers, initially barred journalists from entering the premises. He locked the gate, preventing media personnel from gathering news. However, after intervention from higher administrative authorities, journalists were eventually allowed access to the site.
