Genocide Day Observed at Maulana Mufazzal Hossain Women’s College in Rajnagar

Genocide Day on March 25 and Independence and National Day on March 26 were observed by Maulana Mufazzal Hossain Women’s College in Rajnagar, Moulvibazar. On this occasion, a discussion meeting and prize distribution ceremony were held. A one-minute silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the great Liberation War of 1971. The speakers shared their memories and reflections on the war.

The discussion meeting was presided over by the acting principal of the college, Tofayel Ahmed, and conducted by Lecturer Selim Mia of the Bengali Department. Special guests who spoke at the event included freedom fighter Swardhindu Deb, BNP leader M.A. Hakim Baks Sundar, college lecturer Dhiraj Bhattacharjee, Press Club President Awal Kalam Beg, Kawadighi Haor Protection Movement member secretary M. Khasru Chowdhury, and Bilkis Begum.

In the discussion, speakers recalled the horrific massacre of March 25, 1971, and urged everyone to work together to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War. A one-minute silence was observed to honor the martyrs.

The event began with Quran recitation by student Sanjida Akter and Gita reading by Sumi Rabi Das.
