Former Minister Imran Moved from Prison to Hospital Cabin

District Correspondent, Sylhet: Former Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Imran Ahmad, has been moved from Sylhet Central Jail to a cabin at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

On Tuesday morning, he was brought to the hospital for a check-up, but doctors advised admitting him for further observation. He is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital cabin.

According to sources, Imran Ahmad was brought to Osmani Hospital from Sylhet Central Jail on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, he spent some time in the hospital director’s office before being admitted to a cabin.

Sources further stated that the former minister’s condition is relatively stable. After being taken to the cabin, several close associates visited him, and he conversed with them.

Tarikul Islam, Jail Superintendent of Sylhet Central Jail, said that Imran Ahmad has been suffering from various health issues, which is why he was sent to Osmani Hospital for treatment on Tuesday morning.

However, Dr. Soumitra, Deputy Director of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, said on Wednesday morning that the former minister is primarily suffering from age-related illnesses. He has kidney problems, high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.

It is worth mentioning that on the night of October 21 last year, Imran Ahmad was arrested by police from Banani, Dhaka. He was later shown arrested in multiple cases in Sylhet. On February 5, he was produced before the Sylhet Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, where he was shown arrested in three murder cases. Since then, he had been in Sylhet Central Jail.
