Flash Procession by Jubo League Creates Stir in Cox’s Bazar

Mohammad Khorshed Helali, Cox’s Bazar: A sudden flash procession by a group of Jubo League leaders and activists has created a stir in Cox’s Bazar town. The procession, led by district Jubo League leader Munaf Shikdar, was carried out unexpectedly.

The flash procession reportedly began at around 6 AM on Tuesday, starting from Dolphin Mor and ending at Sugandha Point in Cox’s Bazar town.

According to sources, Munaf Shikdar, accompanied by 30 to 40 of his followers, assembled abruptly at Dolphin Mor. Holding a banner, they initiated the flash procession, chanting slogans in support of Sheikh Hasina and against anti-government and anti-discrimination movements.

The procession traversed the main road from Dolphin Mor to Sugandha Point, where they held a post-procession rally. Munaf Shikdar addressed the gathering for about 7 minutes. As public presence on the roads increased, the participants quickly dispersed.

This flash procession by fugitive Jubo League leaders and activists has sparked widespread commotion across Cox’s Bazar town. Members of anti-discrimination movements have expressed their outrage through various platforms, including social media.

They claimed that negligence by the police and intelligence agencies emboldened Jubo League to organize such a procession. Previously, Munaf Shikdar had also distributed leaflets in support of Sheikh Hasina.

When asked about the incident, Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Elias Khan stated that the flash procession took place during a time when the patrol police had returned to the station. Taking advantage of this, the procession was carried out. Investigations are underway regarding Munaf Shikdar and others involved in the procession. Legal action will be taken following the investigation.
