Fine of 5 Lakh Taka for Illegal Sand Extraction in Rajnagar

Rajnagar (Moulvibazar) Correspondent: In the Tarapasha area of Rajnagar Upazila, Moulvibazar, four individuals were fined a total of 5 lakh taka for extracting and transporting sand illegally from the Manu River’s (1st segment) sand quarry without a lease. The fine was imposed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Afroza Habib Shapla.

On Monday (April 21), through a mobile court, the penalty was handed down under Section 15 of the Sand Quarry and Soil Management Act, 2010, for violations of Sections 4(c) and 11 of the same act in two separate cases.

The fined individuals are:

Md. Ismail Hossain (22), son of Harun Mia of East Nandiura village.

Juned Ahmed (24), son of Qayes Ahmed.

Md. Selim Uddin (30), son of Md. Asmat Ali.

Jewel Ahmed (35), son of Sufi Ahmed.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Afroza Habib Shapla stated that strict measures against violations of the Sand Quarry and River Management Act will continue in the future.
