Discussion meeting at BGCTUB on the occasion of World Pharmacist Day 2025

Own Reporter: A discussion meeting was held at the Pharmacy Department of BGC Trust University Bangladesh (BGCTUB) on the occasion of World Pharmacist Day 2025 with the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”. The program was organized by BGCTUB Pharmacy Students Forum.

The program was chaired by Mohammad Sharifur Rahman, Senior General Manager, Albion Laboratories Limited. Zahed Bin Rahim, Chairman, Pharmacy Department, BGCTUB.

Speech by the Chief Guest

Mohammad Sharifur Rahman said

A pharmacist is not just a supplier of medicines, but a reliable companion to ensure the well-being of the patient. Their role in modern healthcare is becoming more important day by day.


Speech by the President Zahed Bin Rahim said that pharmacy education is not just for earning a degree, it is a noble profession related to saving people’s lives. Through research, our students are able to bring revolutionary changes in the health sector of the country.

Speech by Special Guests

Dr. S. M. Shoaib, Registrar-in-Charge, BGCTUB said
Students should focus on gaining practical experience along with their studies. There is no substitute for hands-on experience to enhance their professional skills.

Prof. Dr. Hazrat Ali Mia, Treasurer, BGCTUB said
The pharmacy profession has earned the trust of the society. To maintain this trust, one must be steadfast in honesty, ethics and professional standards.

Dr. Anind Kumar Nath, Dean and Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, USTC said
The main responsibility of pharmacists is to ensure the correct use of medicines. A wrong prescription or dosage can be life-threatening for the patient.

Dr. Zia Uddin, Controller of Examinations and Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, USTC said
Today’s students are the pharmacist leaders of tomorrow. Through research, innovation and use of technology, Bangladesh can move forward in the global health sector.

Sharmin Lira, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy, BGCTUB said
The participation of female students is increasing day by day, which will bring diversity and prosperity in healthcare.

Salauddin Shahriar, Deputy Registrar, BGCTUB said
Pharmacy students should take the country forward with ethics and responsibility.

Student Participation
After the discussion, a question and answer session was held with the active participation of students. Students presented their opinions and questions on the future prospects of pharmacy education, research and professional development.

Unanimous Opinion The speakers unanimously agreed that pharmacists in modern healthcare are not limited to just preparing or distributing medicines; rather, they are also essential partners in patient care, proper medical advice and increasing health awareness.
