Feni Correspondent: The family of Abdul Haq Noman, joint convener of the Sonagazi Upazila Tatidol, has demanded justice against the OC, SI, and a cooperative leader for implicating Noman in false drug and explosives cases. The demand was made during a press conference held on Monday (April 14) at Feni’s Five Star Chinese Restaurant by Noman’s wife and daughter. However, the OC of Sonagazi Police Station claims that Noman is a listed drug dealer.
During the press conference, Noman’s daughter Nahida Akhter Tanha said, “My father purchased a pickup van and operates it himself. He also serves as the joint convener of the Sonagazi Upazila Tatidol.”
Nahida alleged, “On the evening of March 13, around 7 PM, my father was at home with the family. At that time, Sonagazi Police Station’s OC Baizid Akon, SI Golam Kibria, and ASI Rajib Boiragi surrounded our house and arrested my father without any warrant. The next day, they showed the recovery of yaba, chocolate bombs, and bullet shells and sent him to court. My father’s political opponents, Akbar Hossain and his brother Arman Hossain, colluded with the police to implicate my father in a false case. This has caused immense harm to our family. Therefore, I demand justice against the OC, SI, and Akbar and his associates.”
Noman’s wife, Sabina Akhter, added, “I demand justice against Sonagazi Police Station’s OC Baizid Akon, Akbar Hossain, the convener of Sonagazi Upazila Cooperative Party, and his brother Arman for falsely implicating my husband in this case. No other family should have to suffer like ours.”
In response, Sonagazi Police Station’s OC Baizid Akon said, “Noman is a listed drug dealer. Seven cases against him are currently pending in Feni courts. On the day of the incident, yaba, explosives, and bullet shells were recovered, with a confession from Noman’s mother.”
It is worth mentioning that Abdul Haq Noman was arrested on the evening of March 13 with chocolate bombs and yaba. He is a resident of Uttar Mongolkandi village in Sonagazi Upazila and the joint convener of the Upazila Tatidol. He is currently in Feni Jail.
