Crackdown on Adulterated Spice Factory in Sreemangal, Fined Tk 50,000 for Irregularities

The upazila administration conducted a raid on a spice factory in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar. The operation, led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Yusuf, took place on Thursday (March 20) afternoon in various areas, including Sagardighi Road and Shantibagh. The raids targeted factories producing turmeric, chili, and coriander powders.

During the raid, Bhai Bhai Spice Mill on Sagardighi Road, owned by Khasru Alam, was fined Tk 50,000 for mixing adulterants in the spices and producing them under unhygienic conditions.

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Yusuf stated, “We received complaints from consumers that adulterated spices were being produced in several mills. Based on these complaints, we conducted the operation. During the raid, we found evidence of adulterants being mixed in the spices and the production taking place under unhygienic conditions. As a result, Bhai Bhai Spice Mill, owned by Khasru Alam, was fined Tk 50,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.”
