Cox’s Bazar wins Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Gold Cup Football Championship

The Cox’s Bazar district football team has won the Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament.
The host Cox’s Bazar district team defeated Comilla district team 1-0 in a fiercely contested final held at the packed Cox’s Bazar Birsreshtho Ruhul Amin Stadium on Sunday (May 11) afternoon to lift the title for the third time. The hero of Cox’s Bazar victory was striker Amir Hakim Bappi, wearing jersey number 19. In the 44th minute of the match, Bappi scored the crucial goal that decided the title for the team with a powerful shot from outside the Comilla D-box.

In the second half, Comilla tried hard to score a goal and made several scattered attacks, but could not break the Cox’s Bazar defense line formed by Monir, Minhaj, and Helal. On the contrary, in the last moment of the second half, Cox’s Bazar substitute Saif missed the easy opportunity of the day by beating the goalkeeper alone and incredibly.

Meanwhile, after the match, a prize distribution ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin. The chief guest of the meeting was the Secretary of the Council of Ministers Division Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid. Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin delivered the welcome speech. Cox’s Bazar Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Imran Hossain Sajib, District Sports Officer and DSA Member Secretary Md. Alauddin also spoke. Later, the chief guest handed over the trophies to the champion and runner-up teams.

Meanwhile, in this tournament organized with the participation of 11 district teams of Chittagong Division, goalkeeper Sayeedi of the champion Cox’s Bazar district team was selected as the Man of the Tournament, and star midfielder Kaushik Barua of the same team was selected as the Man of the Final.
