Mohammad Khoursed Helaly, Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Businessman Zia Uddin Kajol, who was abducted 14 days ago, has been found alive inside a sack in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. Police rescued him on Sunday morning (April 20) from the Banirchhara area of the upazila.
Earlier, on April 6, at around 8 p.m., Kajol was abducted from in front of the central mosque in Khutakhali.
The rescued businessman, Zia Uddin Kajol, is the son of the late Nur Hossain from Hetalia village in Ward 3 of Khutakhali Union in Chakaria Upazila.
Following the abduction, Kajol’s wife, Nusrat Jahan, filed a case at Chakaria Police Station on April 9. Shibbier Ahmed (50) was named as the main accused, along with Md. Salah Uddin (36), Md. Ali alias Ali Ahmed (45), Md. Mintu (40), and 3-4 other unidentified individuals.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station, Md. Shafiqul Islam, stated that on the night of April 6, around 8:30 p.m., Kajol was abducted at gunpoint from Khutakhali Bazar due to prior enmity. He was forcibly taken away in two unidentified motorcycles and a CNG auto-rickshaw.
Through extensive surveillance and operations, police pressured the abductors, who eventually abandoned Kajol and fled. Police successfully rescued him unharmed.
