The police have recovered the hanging bodies of a young man and woman from separate locations in Chunarughat Upazila, Habiganj.
On Thursday, Chunarughat police recovered the two bodies.
Among them, Samina Khatun (20) was found hanging in the house of Amir Ali in Juar Lalchan village under Shankhola Union, while Anik Mia (18) was found in his own house in Mahdirkona village under Mirashi Union.
Samina Khatun was the daughter of Amir Ali of Juar Lalchan village in the upazila. Anik Mia was the adopted son of Kachum Ali of Mahdirkona village in the same upazila.
According to the family, Anik Mia, originally the son of Moyna Mia from Dowarabazar area of Sunamganj, was adopted by Kachum Ali when he was a child. For the past few years, Anik had been suffering from mental illness, and it is suspected that he may have died by suicide. However, no conclusions have been drawn regarding the death of Samina Khatun.
In this regard, Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur Alam said, “The two bodies have been sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. The cause of death will be determined after receiving the post-mortem report.”
