BNP Activist Killed by Chhatra League Leader in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar

Mohammad Khorshed Helali, Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: In the Uttar Nolbila area of Kalarmarchhara Union in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, a BNP activist named Rashid Ahmad (48) was allegedly beaten and stabbed to death during a political argument between Awami League and BNP supporters.

The incident occurred on Monday (April 14) around 10:00 AM in the Dargah Para area of Uttar Nolbila. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Maheshkhali Police Station, Kaiser Hamid, confirmed the incident.

According to eyewitnesses and the OC, a political debate arose between local Chhatra League leader Amit Hasan and the deceased BNP activist Rashid Ahmad. The argument escalated into a physical altercation. At that point, Amit Hasan’s brothers, Kamrul Hasan alias Roma and Helal Uddin, joined in. Together, the three attacked Rashid Ahmad, severely beating him with sticks and stabbing him.

Rashid Ahmad was critically injured and was first taken to Badarkhali General Hospital for primary treatment. He was then referred to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries around 1:00 PM while undergoing treatment.

The police inspected the scene, and Kamrul Hasan alias Roma was apprehended while in hiding. OC Kaiser Hamid stated that the deceased’s body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family.
