Barolekha Press Club welcomes expatriate journalist Iqbal Ferdous

Ashfak Ahmed, Barolekha (Moulvibazar) Correspondent: Jamuna Television’s senior journalist, US State Department and White House correspondent, member of the National Press Club Washington and editor and publisher of the ‘Bangla Sangbad’ newspaper published from Michigan, America, and Barolekha’s son, journalist Iqbal Hossain Ferdous, was given a reception by the Barolekha Press Club on the occasion of his return to his homeland.

On Wednesday (June 11) night, Barolekha Press Club President Anwarul Islam presided over the reception organized at an elite restaurant in the city.

In his speech as the guest of honor, Iqbal Hossain Ferdous said, “I always thought that education was the most important thing. If I don’t have education, then nothing will be of any use. The property of my father, grandfather and ancestors will eventually end, but my education will never end. You can take away my property from me, but you can never take away my knowledge. There is no alternative to intensive study to achieve success in journalism. You have to acquire more skills in information technology. A journalist who always considers himself a student of journalism can reach the desired goal.”

The program was moderated by Press Club Treasurer Sultan Ahmed Khalil and was addressed by Press Club General Secretary Abdur Rob, former General Secretary Advocate Gopal Dutta, Vice Presidents Khalilur Rahman and Iqbal Hossain Swapan, Organizing Secretary Kazi Romiz Uddin, Deputy Editor of Bangla Sangbad and Editor of Shatmakantho newspaper Abul Kashem. Joint Secretary Hasan Shamim and Jalal Ahmed, Office Secretary AJ Lavlu, Tahmid Ishad Ripon, Taher Ahmed.

The speakers at the event praised Iqbal Hossain Ferdous’s success in journalism and his achievements in the international arena, and expressed gratitude for bringing great fame to the newspaper.
