The Bangladesh national women’s kabaddi team put up a valiant fight in their second match against Nepal. Despite the loss, they showcased a competitive performance in the second half.
On Monday, Sravani and her team lost by a narrow margin of just 7 points. Nepal secured a 29-22 victory, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match kabaddi test series.
The match, held at the Taekwondo Hall in Satdobato, Lalitpur, saw the Nepali players maintain their momentum from the previous game. From the start, Nepal displayed confidence, while the Bangladeshi team worked hard to overcome travel fatigue and deliver an improved performance. Compared to the first match, the Bangladeshi players showed better pace today.
Although Nepal continued to extend their lead, Bangladesh was not far behind in chasing points. By halftime, Bangladesh trailed by 10 points, with Nepal scoring 18 and Bangladesh 8. Interestingly, Nepal had also scored 18 points in the first half of the previous match, while Bangladesh had managed 6 points.
After the break, the Bangladeshi team played impressively. They secured several points through super tackles. In the second half, Bangladesh outscored Nepal, earning 14 points compared to Nepal’s 11. However, the deficit from the first half ultimately led to Bangladesh’s defeat.
Coach Arduzzaman Munshi sees significant areas of improvement for Bangladesh. He remarked that his team performed well in this match, stating, “In the first match, Bangladesh was poor in both defense and attack. However, today, the defense was much better. I hope we’ll perform even better in the upcoming matches. With three matches left, I’m optimistic that we can win two of them. Although we’re trailing 2-0 in the series, I’d say injuries and fitness issues have put us at a disadvantage.”
