Rezwana Parvez, the manager of Sonali Bank PLC Barlekha Branch, has been accused of misconduct and arbitrariness towards general customers, including government primary school teachers. The allegations were investigated last Monday by the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Sonali Bank, who collected statements from the affected teachers. On February 25, Kamruzzaman, an assistant teacher at Islampur Government Primary School, submitted a written complaint against Manager Rezwana Parvez to the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Sonali Bank.
According to the written complaint, Rezwana Parvez began behaving inappropriately with customers soon after assuming her position as manager of Sonali Bank’s Barlekha Branch. Customers seeking assistance for banking-related issues were reportedly undervalued by her. Government and private officials, businessmen, public representatives, and journalists have expressed severe dissatisfaction with her behavior. Government primary school teachers, who are major clients of Sonali Bank, frequently visit the branch for various purposes. However, when they approach the manager for resolving issues, they face neglect and arbitrary treatment.
Assistant Teacher Kamruzzaman alleged that he took a loan from Sonali Bank PLC Barlekha Branch for house construction. Although loan installments were regularly deducted from his monthly salary, he fell behind by four installments due to health issues. Without notifying him or his loan guarantor, the manager suddenly stopped the guarantor’s salary. When Kamruzzaman and his guarantor approached her to resolve the issue, she behaved rudely. Leaders of the teachers’ association who visited the bank to address the matter also faced similar misconduct. Moreover, the manager allegedly filed false complaints against the aggrieved teacher and the teacher leaders with the Upazila Education Officer.
Rezwana Parvez, the manager of Sonali Bank PLC Barlekha Branch, denied the allegations, stating that she had not misbehaved with any customer. She claimed that all actions regarding the loan and the guarantor were taken after proper notification.
The Deputy General Manager of Sonali Bank said that no manager should misbehave with customers, especially not with teachers. If the allegations are found to be true, disciplinary action will be taken. The AGM has been assigned to investigate the complaints, and appropriate measures will be implemented after receiving the report.
