Barlekha-Juri (Moulvibazar) Correspondent: A Chhatra League leader, Masum Ahmed Hasan, accused in a political case, was allegedly snatched from police custody by his relatives and followers during his arrest in Barlekha, Moulvibazar. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night at Kolajura Bazar in the upazila.
Chhatra League leader Masum Ahmed Hasan is a resident of Kolajura village and the son of former upazila chairman Azir Uddin.
Eyewitnesses and local sources stated that Masum Ahmed Hasan was accused in a political case filed at the police station. On Saturday night, a police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Touhidur Rahman from Barlekha Police Station conducted an operation at Kolajura Bazar to arrest him. During the arrest, his relatives and followers quickly gathered and snatched him from police custody. Later, additional police forces, led by Barlekha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kashem Sarkar, arrived at the scene upon receiving the news.
Regarding the matter, OC Abul Kashem Sarkar said on Sunday afternoon that police conducted an operation at Kolajura Bazar to arrest Masum Ahmed Hasan, an accused in a political case. During the arrest, his relatives and followers snatched him from police custody. A case has been filed by the police regarding the incident, and four individuals involved in the snatching have been identified and arrested. However, efforts to re-arrest Chhatra League leader Masum Ahmed Hasan are ongoing.
