Admission Fees Reduced at SUST

District Correspondent, Sylhet: The admission fee for the 2024-25 academic session at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has been revised to 14,900 Taka. Previously, the fee was set at 17,000 Taka. In the 2023-24 session, the admission fee was 18,000 Taka. As a result, the fee has been reduced by 3,100 Taka compared to the previous year.

This decision was made at an emergency meeting of the Academic Council on Friday.

The meeting was chaired by SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury and attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sajedul Karim, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain, and the heads of various departments, among others.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. A. M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury stated, “Students are like our own children. All university activities are conducted for their welfare. We must act compassionately towards them so they can focus more on their classes, exams, and research.”

According to sources in the Academic Council, the admission fee for the 2024-25 session was initially set at 17,000 Taka. However, following demands from the students, it was reconsidered and reduced to 14,900 Taka.

In comparison, the admission fee for the 2023-24 academic session was 18,000 Taka. For the 2024-25 academic session, it was first reduced to 17,000 Taka and then further reduced to 14,900 Taka based on student demands. This marks a total reduction of 3,100 Taka from the previous year.

The admission process for the first year of the first semester at SUST will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday and will continue until Thursday.
