AC Temperature Must Be Kept at 25°C During Ramadan and Summer

Noncompliance May Lead to Power Disconnection

The government has directed that air conditioners (ACs) must be set at 25°C or above during the upcoming Ramadan and summer season to conserve electricity. Failure to comply with this directive may result in power disconnection or legal actions, according to Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan.

Speaking to journalists today at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium during the second day of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference, the adviser said, “This measure is being requested to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Ramadan and the peak summer season. Adhering to this directive can save 2,000 to 3,000 megawatts of electricity daily.”

A special monitoring team from the Power Division will oversee compliance. If individuals or institutions ignore the directive, legal measures will be taken, and in some cases, power connections may be severed, he warned.

The adviser further stated, “Instructions are being sent to all advisory councils to ensure AC temperatures are set at 25°C or higher. For government offices, the Cabinet Secretary will be responsible for implementing the directive. For households, we urge the public to cooperate. I appeal to everyone through the media to comply with this request.”

He emphasized the importance of responsible electricity usage and urged collective effort to make the initiative successful. According to him, this step will not only save electricity but will also have a positive impact on the national economy.
