In a shocking incident, a journalist named Md. Asaduzzaman Tuhin (38) was brutally hacked to death in broad daylight in one of Gazipur city’s busiest areas, Chandna Chowrasta. The murder took place in front of Masjid Market around 7:45 PM on Thursday (August 7).
Tuhin was the Gazipur district correspondent for the daily Protidiner Kagoj. He hailed from Bhatipara village in Fulbaria thana of Mymensingh district, and had been living with his family in the Chandna Chowrasta area.
Eyewitness and friend of the victim, Shamim, said that they were walking together on Thursday evening when a woman, accompanied by several men, began an armed demonstration in public. Tuhin stepped aside and began recording the incident on his mobile phone. Shortly afterward, he went missing.
Shamim further stated, “Later, we noticed a crowd in front of a shop. As I approached, I saw Tuhin’s blood-soaked body lying on the ground. His throat had been slit, and there were multiple stab wounds all over his body.”
Locals expressed shock and fear, saying such a gruesome killing in such a crowded public place was unprecedented. The area was bustling with pedestrians and shoppers at the time of the incident.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md. Robiul Alam told reporters, “We have collected CCTV footage and some initial clues from the scene. We are analyzing the evidence and hope to identify and apprehend the killers soon. No one involved will be spared.
