Any party that violates human rights should be punished – AM Abdullah

Own Correspondent, Dhaka: A class of radical organizations has emerged in Bangladesh in the name of human rights. While taking an oath to protect human rights, there should be one sentence, human rights organizations will work for everyone regardless of party, opinion, religion, or caste. Whether it is Awami League or any other party, anyone who violates human rights should be punished, said M Abdullah, Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalists’ Welfare Trust.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion organized on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall Room of the National Press Club on Friday (June 20) at 3 pm.

M Abdullah said, we have come at a time when human rights are being trampled on and trampled on around the world. A terrorist state is waging a massacre by attacking Iran without any prior announcement. Similarly, they are indiscriminately killing people, including women and children, in Gaza, Palestine.

He said, Bangladesh was under a long 17-year-long demonic regime where there were no human rights and basic human rights. From this situation, we came to a stage through a revolutionary revolution on August 5 last year.

He also said, whether human rights violations stop completely, the regime and the ruler change, but there is definitely a difference in terms of scale between human rights violations and human rights violations. The worst human rights violation is disappearance. The family of the disappeared person cannot even find the body, which is the worst human rights violation.

The MD of the Journalist Welfare Trust said, our days have passed under a chaotic regime. This culture of disappearance has started in Bangladesh in the last 16 years, especially since the 11th era.

M Abdullah said, all those who do journalism are human rights activists. After any human rights violation, the first thing the ordinary victims remember is the police and journalists. Because journalists are the ones who take up the pen against the wrongdoers. If the police also perform their duties properly, then every member of the police is a human rights activist.
If human rights organizations can play a role from their active position, then it will be fruitful and the effectiveness can be seen.

He said, Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation has been providing services for 16 years, which is not an easy matter. This organization will work as the most successful organization. He also expressed hope that Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation will play a role in supporting human rights in Bangladesh.

In his speech as the main speaker, DIG of Bangladesh Police Muhammad Muslim said, I have been acquainted with Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation for a long time. I have seen them stand by the disadvantaged people. In addition, this organization has also provided educational materials at various times. In the same way, the organization will stand by the victims of bullying in the future as it was in the past. This is my expectation.

The event was organized by the Additional Secretary General of Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation, journalist Nuruddin Khan Sagar and chaired by the Chairman of Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation, Advocate Zafar Haider. The main discussant was DIG of Bangladesh Police Muhammad Muslim, and the joint convener of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP, Shawkat Azam Khawaja, among others, were present at the event.

The special guests present were Assistant Controller of Accounts Administration of the Ministry of Land, Enamul Haque, Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Environment Movement, Aminur Rasul, Secretary General of Bangladesh Human Rights Development Foundation, Mohiuddin Swapan, Chairman of G.M. IT, Kamrul Kayes Chowdhury, Founding Principal of Nasirabad Public School, Abdur Rob Sohel, Rabiul Hossain Robi, International Affairs Secretary Engineer Shahadat Hossain Golam Sarwar, among others.
