Indian goods worth crores seized in Sylhet and Sunamganj

A.F.M. Asad Ullah: The BGB has seized smuggled goods worth Tk 1.43 crore from various border areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj. In addition, the BGB has also seized a Bangladeshi barque boat used for illegal stone mining during the operation.

On Saturday morning, a patrol team from Tamabil, Sangram, Damdammia and Sonalichela BOPs on the border of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts under the responsibility of BGB 48 Battalion conducted the operation. During this, a huge quantity of Indian Skin Bright Cream, Oris cigarettes, Sanpapri, biscuits, chocolates and cows were seized. The estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 1.43 crore 64 thousand 20, according to the BGB.

The commander of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) said that as per the instructions of the higher headquarters, the BGB’s operational activities and intelligence activities to maintain security at the border and prevent smuggling are continuing in full swing. In continuation of this, a large amount of smuggled goods were seized by conducting operations in the border areas. Necessary action will be taken as per the rules regarding the seized smuggled goods.
