A.F.M. Asad Ullah: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a person with smuggled goods worth Tk 12 lakh in a 24-hour operation in Habiganj.
On Wednesday night, 55 BGB commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman confirmed this information.
Earlier, on Tuesday evening, a patrol team of the Kalenga border outpost of Chunarughat of the BGB conducted a raid in the Krishnachhara area and arrested a smuggler named Abdul Ahad with 5,950 Indian gelled blades worth Tk 29,750. He is the son of Mofiz Mia of Jamburachhara village in Srimangal. At that time, Abdul Hai, son of Babul Hossain, Momin Mia, son of Shafiq Mia, and Milan Mia, son of Zahid Mia of the same village had fled.
In addition, Kalenga, Guibil, Chimtibil and Teliapara border outposts conducted 4 more separate operations in 24 hours till 7 pm on Wednesday. They seized a large quantity of Indian sarees, Than cloth, Gillette blades, fuchkas and 50 bottles of Phensidyl.
55 BGB commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman said that the estimated value of Indian goods and Phensidyl seized in the 5 operations is around 12 lakh 51 thousand taka. Cases have been filed with Chunarughat and Madhabpur police stations and Abdul Ahad and the seized goods have been handed over.
