Illegal structures demolished on canal in Jagannathpur

A F M Asad Ullah: The upazila administration demolished four illegal structures built on a government canal in Habibpur Shahpur area of ​​Jagannathpur municipality in Sunamganj.

The demolition drive was conducted in the Habibpur Shahpur Madrasa Point area around 12 noon on Thursday. Four illegal structures built on the canal were removed during the demolition drive.

Jagannathpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Riyad Bin Ibrahim Bhuiyan conducted the drive. He was assisted in the drive by SI Lutfur Rahman of Jagannathpur Police Station.

It is learned that Enamul Haque, Ragib Ali, Nur Mia and Moinuddin had been building and renting out pucca shops on the canal for a long time. After the matter came to the notice of the Assistant Commissioner (Land), a three-day time limit was set for removing the illegal structures on their own responsibility. But even after the stipulated time, the structures were not removed.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Riyad bin Ibrahim Bhuiyan said, “For a long time, concrete structures were being built on government canals and rented out. Today, four illegal structures were demolished in a drive. Such drives will continue.”
