Rohingya Woman Killed by Husband’s Stabbing in Ukhiya Camp, Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Rehena Akter (29), a housewife, was killed by her husband Nurul Islam in a stabbing incident at the Ukhiya Rohingya Camp in Cox’s Bazar. The APBn police have detained the husband in connection with the murder. The incident occurred on Tuesday night at their residence in Camp-19.

The deceased, Rehena Akter, was the daughter of Abu Sadek from Block A-7 of Camp-19 in Ukhiya. Her husband, Nurul Islam, is the son of Abdu Shukkur from the same camp.

Assistant Police Superintendent Abdul Hadi of the 8th Armed Police Battalion confirmed the incident.

Quoting locals, he said that around 8 PM on Tuesday, an argument broke out between Nurul Islam and his wife Rehena Akter over family disputes in Camp-19. At one point, Nurul Islam stabbed Rehena, resulting in her death on the spot. Upon receiving the information, an APBn police team arrived at the scene and detained the perpetrator.

He further mentioned that legal proceedings against the detained Nurul Islam are currently underway.
