Awami League Leader Arrested with Arms and Ammunition in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar

Mohammad Khorshed Helali, Cox’s Bazar: Police have arrested an Awami League leader named Monir Uddin alias Monu (38) in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar. During the operation, a locally made firearm (LG) and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from an abandoned cowshed.

The arrest was made in the early hours of Monday (May 12) around 2:00 AM from his residence in Alekdia Kata area under the Sadar Union of the upazila, confirmed Pekua Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Sirajul Mostafa.

Monir Uddin alias Monu is the son of the late Kabir Ahmed of the same area and the President of the Awami League of Ward No. 8, Shilkhali.

OC Mohammad Sirajul Mostafa stated, “Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid and arrested him. Based on his information, a firearm and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from an abandoned cowshed. A case is under process. After filing the case, he will be presented in court.”
