Mohammad Khorshed Helali, Cox’s Bazar: A tourist visiting Cox’s Bazar from Chattogram drowned while swimming at the Sugandha Point of the beach. Preliminary reports suggest that the young tourist, who suffered from epilepsy, passed away after a seizure caused him to fall into the water.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 7) at around 1:30 PM, according to Nafis Intesar Nafi, Magistrate of the Tourism Cell under the Cox’s Bazar District Administration.
The deceased, Arafat Hossain (22), was a resident of Rangunia in Chattogram district.
Magistrate Nafis Intesar Nafi stated that a group of 12 tourists from Rangunia in Chattogram had come to visit Cox’s Bazar. While swimming at Sugandha Point, one of them, who was reportedly suffering from epilepsy, felt dizzy and fell into the water. Beach workers and lifeguards promptly rescued him and rushed him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The tourist’s body has been sent to the morgue at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. Initial investigations indicate that he drowned following an epileptic seizure.
