Work Abstention at Sylhet Court Premises Over Various Demands

A F M Asad Ullah: Demanding a separate secretariat under the Supreme Court for the judiciary, recognition of subordinate court and tribunal support staff as judicial service staff, implementation of salary and allowances in accordance with the Bangladesh Judicial Service pay scale, inclusion of the existing 7th-12th grades in the judicial service pay scale after the 1st-6th grades, abolition of block positions, creation of modern positions ensuring opportunities for promotion based on qualifications and seniority, and formulation of separate recruitment rules, the Bangladesh Judicial Employees Association observed a work abstention in front of the Sylhet District and Sessions Judge’s Court.

The work abstention took place on Monday from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in front of the Sylhet District and Sessions Judge’s Court.

The program was presided over by the president of the Sylhet district branch of the Bangladesh Judicial Employees Association, Md. Khairul Islam, and conducted by the general secretary, Md. Saiful Islam. During the abstention, speeches were delivered sequentially by senior vice-president Rati Kanta Das, vice-president Md. Azad Mia, advisor Md. Saif Ahmad, vice-president Dipankar Pal, organizing secretary Faizul Islam, vice-president Kajal Kanti Chakraborty, Shampa Bardhan, Ataur Rahman, law secretary Abul Hossain, joint secretary Md. Sohel Rana, Md. Alamgir Hossain Chowdhury, Mia Md. Rustam, Nuruzzaman Ripon, members Md. Zakir Hossain, Rushna Begum, women secretary Shahina Jahan Khan, joint secretary Lelin Poddar, sports secretary Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, assistant publicity secretary Biraj Kumar Das, and assistant general secretary Narazel Hossain, among others.

In his speech, president Md. Khairul Islam said, “These demands are not new. We have been presenting these rightful demands to the government year after year, but the concerned authorities are not addressing them. Therefore, we are compelled to take strict action. We earnestly urge the government to accept our rightful demands.”
