Attack and Looting at Business Establishment of Student Leader’s Father in Rajnagar

Moulvibazar Correspondent:
An incident of attack and looting occurred at the business establishment of a student leader’s father in Rajnagar, Moulvibazar.

The incident took place early Sunday (May 4) near Khaza Mosque in Kharpara village under Sadar Union of Rajnagar Upazila.

According to local sources, a group of miscreants attacked the Syed Varieties Store, a grocery shop located near Khaza Mosque, owned by expatriate Syed Farid Ali of Mahasahasra village in the upazila. During the attack, the assailants assaulted 63-year-old Syed Farid, injuring him, and looted goods worth 800,000 taka along with cash from the store.

Injured Syed Farid Ali returned home after receiving initial treatment at Rajnagar Hospital.

Speaking about the incident, Syed Farid Ali said, “There is a political rivalry involving my son, Syed Fahed Ali, who previously served as the Office Secretary of the Upazila Chhatra Dal. I suspect this incident occurred due to political conflicts. During the attack, the miscreants verbally abused me with obscene language and threatened to kill Fahed Ali if they found him. The attackers were masked, so they couldn’t be identified.”

Local resident Faisal Ali stated, “For the past few months, a group has been threatening and searching for Syed Fahed Ali due to political reasons. His family members are living in constant fear.”

Confirming the incident, local Union Parishad member Delwar Hossain Bablu said, “This is indeed unfortunate. I have advised them to handle the matter legally.”
