Military Operation Seizes Indian Goods Worth Crores, Two Arrested

District Correspondent, Sylhet: In two separate operations conducted by the Haripur Gas Field Army Camp in Jaintapur, illegal Indian goods worth approximately 14 million taka, including cosmetics, Gillette blades, and lehengas, were seized. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident. The detainees are identified as Hanif Ahmed, son of Abdul Latib from Lama Fatehpur village, and Juman Ahmed, son of Ahmad Ali from Narayanpur village, both in Gowainghat upazila.

According to sources from the Haripur Army Camp, on Friday night, a patrol team from the 27th Infantry Regiment’s 27 BIR unit conducted a raid in the Lama Fatehpur area, located north of Fatepur Bazaar in Gowainghat upazila. During the operation, illegal Indian goods were seized from a mini-truck and a warehouse, along with two individuals.

In another operation later the same night, around 10 PM, the 27 BIR unit’s patrol team seized various illegal Indian cosmetics from a warehouse in the Lafnaut village of Alirgaon Union in Gowainghat upazila.

The confiscated goods include 213 pieces of Screen Shine Cream, 280 pieces of Skin Bright Cream, 160 pieces of Clop G Cream, 5 cartons of Gillette blades, and 439 Indian lehengas. The estimated market value of the seized items is 13.987 million taka.

The detained individuals and the seized goods were handed over to the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) last night. According to BGB sources, legal proceedings related to the incident are currently underway.
