Banned Chhatra League Activist Handed Over to Police by Students and Locals

A.F.M. Asad Ullah Asad: In Sylhet, students and locals apprehended a murder case accused and activist of the banned organization Chhatra League from a sports field and handed him over to the police. The detainee, Fahim Ahmed (25), is the son of Shafiq Uddin from Dasgram in Dakshin Fatehpur of the municipal town.

On Thursday afternoon, during a football match at the PHG Government High School field in the Bianibazar municipal town, Fahim Ahmed was detained by students and locals. They physically assaulted him before handing him over to the local police station.

According to police and local sources, the detainee, Fahim, is accused in the murder case of Moynul Islam, who was killed on August 5 in the premises of the Bianibazar police station.

Bianibazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ashraf Uzzaman said, “Fahim Ahmed was apprehended by the public and handed over to the police. On August 5, Moynul Islam was shot dead following the fall of the government. Subsequently, the deceased’s wife, Shirin Begum, filed a murder case at the police station on August 26 last year. The case is currently under investigation by Sylhet CID. Fahim is listed as the 26th accused in the First Information Report (FIR) of that murder case.”
