Two Bodies Recovered Within 24 Hours in Gowainghat

District Correspondent, Sylhet: Police have recovered the bodies of two young men from separate locations in Gowainghat within 24 hours. The bodies were found on Sunday night and Monday morning.

At around 11 PM on Sunday night, police recovered the hanging body of a young man named Rajib Sarkar from a sweet shop in front of a temple at Mamar Bazar in Jaflong. On Monday morning, police found the half-decomposed body of an unidentified youth in a canal near Gowainghat Government College Road (at a place called Aiyalaband).

Police stated that locals noticed a foul smell on Sunday night and discovered the hanging body of the young man before informing the police.

On the other hand, on Monday morning, locals spotted the dead body of an unidentified youth in a canal near Gowainghat Government College Road and reported it to the police.

Responding to the reports, Gowainghat Police visited both scenes, recovered the bodies, and prepared initial investigation reports before sending the bodies to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Confirming the recovery of the two bodies, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station, Sarkar Tofayel Ahmed, said that police inspected both scenes and recovered the bodies. He added that the exact causes of death could not be determined until the autopsy reports were received. Further legal proceedings are underway.
