In Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj, Jasim Mia (22) has been arrested for killing his elder brother, Ruel Mia (24). Both the deceased and the accused are sons of Abu Mia, residents of Abad village in Paikpara Union of the upazila.
On Thursday afternoon, Chunarughat police sent Jasim to the district jail through the court.
According to reports, on Tuesday afternoon, Ruel cut down a tree and brought it to their yard. Jasim used the tree for his own purposes, leading to an argument between the two brothers. At one point, Jasim struck Ruel on the head with a branch of the tree. Ruel was critically injured and taken to a private hospital in Sylhet, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday night. Later that night, police arrested Jasim.
Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Noor Alam confirmed the incident, stating that preparations are underway to file a murder case against Jasim.
