The incident occurred on Sunday, April 13, at 1 PM in front of the ADM Court, located beneath the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Police detained two individuals involved in the attack and presented them to the court.
It was learned that due to a land dispute, Marzina Akter, wife of Sherajul Haque from Badaruddin Bhuiyan Bari in the Sonagazi Municipality’s Ward No. 4, filed a case under Section 145 of the CrPC in the Additional District Magistrate’s Court against Azizul Haque and his associates from the same household. Both parties appeared in court on Sunday afternoon. At one point, Azizul Haque and his accomplices attacked the plaintiff, Marzina Akter. When her husband, Sherajul Haque, and their sons, Emdadul Haque Shakib and Enamul Haque Sajib, tried to protect her, the attackers also assaulted them.
Plaintiff Marzina Akter stated that the accused repeatedly threatened her to withdraw the case. On the court premises, the threats escalated into a confrontation. During the attack, Azizul Haque, his sons Amzad Hossain Sumon and Afzal Hossain Sujan, along with 10-12 others, assaulted her. Lawyers and police rescued them and admitted them to Feni 250-Bed General Hospital.
Regarding the incident, Azizul Haque claimed that during an argument over the case, Sherajul and his sons attacked him. He and his two sons were seriously injured in the altercation. He also stated that he is preparing to file a case regarding the attack.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Advocate Jahangir Alam Nantu, said that the attack occurred because the plaintiff refused to withdraw the case as demanded by the accused. With the help of lawyers and police, the plaintiff and her family were saved from further harm.
Feni Court Inspector Mazharul Karim stated that Amzad Hossain Sumon and Afzal Hossain Sujan, involved in the attack, were detained from the scene and presented before the court. The court released them with a warning after taking a written undertaking.
