Tarin Akter, an SSC examinee, had to take her exam while leaving her father’s body at home. She appeared at the SSC examination center at Rajar Bazar High School in Chunarughat, Habiganj. Tarin is the daughter of the recently deceased Kutub Ali of Bongao village in Ahmadabad Union, Chunarughat Upazila, and a student of Amurod High School.
According to locals, Tarin, a Humanities student, was scheduled to sit for her first SSC exam on Thursday. She had prepared accordingly.
However, on Wednesday night, her father, who was in his fifties, suddenly suffered a heart attack. He was taken to the Chunarughat Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
In a short span of time, grief engulfed Tarin’s family. She broke down in tears after losing her father. The morning brought her the challenge of facing both the SSC exam and her father’s funeral. Under immense pressure, she had to leave her father’s body at home and attend the exam.
Abdul Kadir, a teacher at the school, mentioned that upon hearing the news at night, teachers visited her home to console her. Her father’s funeral prayer was scheduled for 11 a.m., so she had to attend the exam before the janaza. Tarin was mentally distressed, yet she reported performing well in the exam. “We are continuously encouraging her to do well in the upcoming exams,” he added.
