Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Vatara Police Station Md. Mazharul Islam said, “An allegation has been made against actress Pori Moni for physically assaulting a housemaid. The complaint has been recorded as a GD and we are currently investigating the matter.”
Speaking to the media, Pinky Akter said she started working at Pori Moni’s residence in Bashundhara Residential Area about a month ago through a person named Kader. Her primary responsibility was to take care of the actress’s one-year-old daughter and feed her at regular intervals. However, she alleged that apart from childcare, she was also made to perform other household chores.
Describing the incident, Pinky said, “On April 2, I was sitting with the baby and preparing a grocery list when the child began to cry. At that moment, a man named Sourav, who frequently visits Pori Moni’s house, told me to give the baby some solid food. I told him that the baby had eaten solid food not long ago and that I would feed her milk a little later.”
She continued, “I learned that the previous housemaid would also sometimes feed the baby milk when she cried. So, I began preparing the milk. At that point, actress Pori Moni came out of the makeup room and began verbally abusing me, questioning why I was preparing milk. When I explained the situation, she shouted, ‘Is the baby yours or mine?’ and started slapping me repeatedly and hitting me on the head.”
Pinky further alleged, “At first, I was shocked and thought she might stop after one or two slaps. But she continued hitting me harder, and I fell to the floor three times. She then hit me so hard on my left eye that I still cannot see properly from it.”
She added, “After the brutal assault, I started crying and begged her to take me to the hospital. But she swore at me and said, ‘You are not going anywhere. I will treat you here and beat you right here.’ She came to hit me again, but Sourav intervened. Pori Moni then verbally abused Sourav for stopping her. Eventually, I lost consciousness and fell to the ground.”
Pinky alleged that she regained consciousness about an hour later and asked another housemaid, Brishti, to help her get to a hospital. However, Brishti told her that Pori Moni was asleep and could not be disturbed. Pinky then secretly called Kader from the bathroom and explained the situation, but he also said the actress could not be disturbed while sleeping.
“With no other option, I called the national emergency service 999 and informed the police. I also called a cousin, who came to Pori Moni’s residence. Around the same time, the police also arrived. After learning this, Pori Moni instructed Brishti to take me downstairs,” said Pinky.
She added, “I then took a rickshaw to Kurmitola General Hospital for primary treatment. I am still unwell due to the assault. I have filed an initial GD and will take further legal steps against her.”
No statement has been received from actress Pori Moni regarding the allegations.
