Worker Dies While Extracting Stones in Bunker at Companiganj

A worker named Kayes Ahmed (38) died while extracting stones from a bunker in the Bholaganj area of Companiganj Upazila, Sylhet. He was the son of the late Momraz Member of Jagannathpur village in Kaliajuri Upazila of Netrakona district. Kayes lived in a rented house in the local Doyarbazar area. The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 20) at around 12:30 AM.

Eyewitnesses reported that several workers were extracting stones in the bunker area at night. During the process, a tree suddenly collapsed, trapping Kayes underneath it. He died on the spot. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the Companiganj Health Complex. From there, the police took custody of the body.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Uzair Al Mahmud Adnan stated that the body was prepared for an inquest and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for an autopsy. An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard.
