‘Remove Occupiers, Save Civil Aviation’: Employees Protest at Osmani Airport

Sylhet District Correspondent

Officials and employees of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) protested demanding the cancellation of the proposal to form the Bangladesh Airport Security Force, the termination and suspension of the deployment of Air Force personnel to all airports under CAAB on deputation, and three other demands. During the protest, they chanted slogans such as “Remove occupiers, save civil aviation.”

On Monday afternoon, they held a protest and demonstration on the road at Sylhet Osmani International Airport and presented their four-point demands.

The protesters said, “Our demands are logical. If our demands, including the withdrawal of Air Force personnel, are not met, we will announce a larger program.”

Their four-point demands are:

1. The appointment of personnel from the Air Force on deputation, including the Chairman, to CAAB and all airports must be canceled and stopped.

2. The illegal proposal by CAAB to form an “Airport Security Force” must be immediately canceled.

3. The ongoing recruitment process by CAAB must be completed, and recruitment notifications must be issued according to demand to increase manpower under the authority.

4. Arrangements must be made to permanently regularize the jobs of officials and employees recruited in 2022 as soon as possible.
