In Jagannathpur of Sunamganj, road subsidence has turned into a death trap. Vehicles are operating daily at significant risk. On the Jagannathpur-Chilaura road at a place called Rasulpur Touch Point, both sides of the road in front of a small bridge have subsided by about one foot, making the center of the road resemble a raised grave. Vehicles are navigating this stretch with extreme caution every day.
Locals reported that frequent accidents occur due to the dilapidated condition of the road. Local drivers stated, “We are facing severe difficulties due to a small section of the road. The problematic stretch is no more than 100 feet. We strongly urge the concerned authorities to repair this section promptly.”
Jagannathpur Upazila Engineer (LGED) Sohrab Hossain said, “We are currently repairing a two-kilometer stretch of the Jagannathpur-Chilaura road in the Jatrabazar area. We are aware of the issue at the Rasulpur location. That section will also be repaired in due course.
