Protest and Road Blockade Against Attempts to Relocate Habiganj Medical College

 

Students of Habiganj Medical College staged a road blockade and protest rally against the alleged attempts to relocate the institution. During the protest, hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road. The blockade was later withdrawn following the issuance of an ultimatum.

The protest took place on Saturday afternoon as students blocked the main road in the city.

According to locals, the students of Habiganj Medical College blocked the city’s main road at noon, protesting against the relocation of the college and demanding the construction of a permanent campus. During the protest, they chanted various slogans, urging that the medical college remain in Habiganj. The blockade lasted for about an hour before the students returned to their campus.

Later, the students held a press conference. The conference was addressed by students Rinku Deb, Riel Sarkar, Tasnimur Riaz, Akib Mahmud, and Abu Hasan.

During the press conference, they stated that if the medical college is relocated, a larger movement involving the people of Habiganj will be organized.
